The Botanical Garden, unique in this area, is designed to demonstrate the variety of flora which can be grown in Berkshire County, as well as to show the interface between gardening and art. This latter mission is perhaps best exemplified by the current exhibit, aptly called "Sculpture in the Garden," containing 11 pieces of contemporary sculpture arrayed along a winding path through the 15 acres of lush greenery. The Berkshire Botanical Gardens are open year round, offering workshops, demonstrations and public programs on all aspects of the gardening art, founded in 1934. Open Daily.

Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

Pleasant Valley’s thriving beaver population is one of the many fascinating features of this sanctuary. When you walk along Yokun Brook, take note of the "lodges" of tree branches and mud, where these nocturnal creatures spend their days. Salamander migrations are a major spring event along West Mountain Road. Seven miles of trails that wind through hardwood forest, meadows, wetlands, and along the slopes of Lenox Mountain make this site an excellent location for hiking. Canoe trips are offered regularly on the Housatonic River and area lakes from mid-May through Columbus Day.

The Beacon Cinema premiered on Friday morning with the clipping of a strand of 35 millimeter film — opening the doors to the high-tech, all-digital theater while at the same time symbolically cutting ties to an obsolete past.Adjacent to the state forest is Bash Bish Falls, one of the state's most dramatic waterfalls. Cascading water tumbles through a series of gorges, and then plummets some 60 feet into a sparkling pool below.
